HarnessRouter

Not a desktop orchestrator but an infrastructure layer: one OpenAI Responses-compatible API in front of agent harnesses (Codex, Claude Code, Hermes, PI, DeepSeek Harness, custom), with sessions, streaming, file upload/download, cancellation and failure traces. It implements the open Unified Harness Protocol (UHP).

  • Two editions (matches the “self-hosted and hosted version” blurb; C tier, community opinion): Community Edition, Apache-2.0, self-hosted via one Docker command (Console, Gateway, Runner; bring your own provider key, no account); and HarnessRouter Cloud, managed serverless execution in isolated sandboxes using the same API. Cloud billing (harnessrouter.ai/pricing, 2026-10-08): usage-based on agent work time and agent memory, plans named Free, Developer, Production, Scale and Enterprise, bring-your-own-keys or the vendor’s keys, model usage passed through at list price with no markup (vendor claim).
  • Makers: the YC Launches pages name Kuanze Ma and Richard Song, co-founders, under Epsilla (YC Summer 2023 batch per the YC company profile; HarnessRouter itself has no YC company page, the site says “Backed by Y Combinator”). Timeline from YC Launches: Cloud launch post 2026-07-23; Community Edition and UHP open-sourcing post 2026-08-17. Repo: github.com/HarnessRouter/harnessrouter (created 2026-08-09, Apache-2.0, about 2.9k stars, 295 forks, release v0.32.3 on 2026-10-08; GitHub API). Several unrelated forks exist (codehornets, kuishou68, thigas88).
  • Use: for embedding coding agents in your own product rather than supervising them yourself.
