Positioning
Cheaper than gpt-6-dot-astra (about one fifth of its token price), built with Astra-style methods for professional work, coding and computer use (press summary of the launch; OpenAI launch page blocked). Naming caution: GPT-5.6 also had a “Sol” tier (gpt-5.6-sol, 2026-07-09, promotional pricing through 2026-11-21); do not confuse the two.
