Gemini 3.5 Pro never appeared in Google’s model lineup and has been reported cancelled. Recorded because the cancellation itself is part of the Gemini 3 series history.

What is verified (checked 2026-10-02)
- Google’s Gemini API models page lists 3.5 Flash, 3.5 Flash-Lite and 3.5 Transcribe, plus 3.6, 3.7 and 3.8 Flash and a 3.1 Pro preview; there is no
gemini-3.5-promodel. - 9to5Google’s report on Gemini 4 Argon (2026-09-30) says Argon “follows the cancellation of Gemini 3.5 Pro”. No date for the cancellation is given.
- Google’s own Gemini 4 Argon post does not mention 3.5 Pro. Argon itself is limited to selected cyber defenders via the Fairwind Program (see gemini-3-x-family).

Notes
The Gemini 3.5 line shipped only as Flash-class models (3.5 Flash and Flash-Lite, then 3.6, 3.7 and 3.8 Flash); the Pro tier stayed at 3.1 Pro preview. Framing the cancellation as a response to open-weight rivals (Qwen 3.8 Max) is commentary, not something Google has stated.
