AI features (as of 2026-10-05)
The official pricing page states that the Gemini assistant in Gmail is available on all plans and that higher tiers unlock broader Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet and Chat. The AI solutions page lists, for Business Standard: Gemini app, Gemini Notebook, built-in AI in Gmail/Drive/Sheets, AI notetaking in Meet, Studio (workflow automation) and Google Vids. Enterprise adds agent management and deployment, agent governance controls, AI-powered data loss prevention, advanced access controls, and digital-sovereignty options. GA/preview status per feature was not stated on those pages; check the Workspace Updates blog before relying on a feature.
- Workflow automation with agents: see Google Workspace Flows and google-workspace-studio.
- Admin controls for Gemini and data-access terms: not verified here; check Google’s admin help.
Developer and admin surface
APIs for Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs and Sheets; Workspace Add-ons; Apps Script; Marketplace. For OAuth in your own code see Add Google OAuth to a TypeScript app. Security and compliance features (DLP, Vault, context-aware access, data regions) may vary by edition (not verified); check the edition matrix in Google’s admin help (https://support.google.com/a/).
Strengths and weaknesses (opinion)
- Strengths: browser-first real-time collaboration, integrated suite.
- Weaknesses: possible lock-in through deep cross-app integration; heavy Excel macros and large media files may be better served by desktop suites such as Microsoft 365 (Microsoft).
