Talend Data Fabric / Qlik Talend Cloud
What it is
Talend’s data integration, data quality and governance suite, now sold by Qlik as Qlik Talend Cloud (cloud flagship) alongside the still-available client-managed Talend Data Fabric (“a single modular platform” for cloud and on-premises) and Qlik’s CDC products (Qlik Replicate, Enterprise Manager, Compose) (qlik.com data-integration page, fetched 2026-10-07).
Maker, ownership and history
Talend S.A. was acquired by Qlik from Thoma Bravo; completion 2023-05-16 (vault note Qlik, citing MarketScreener). Qlik also acquired Attunity (2019). Qlik Open Lakehouse (Apache Iceberg) went GA 2025-09-16 (vault note). Earlier Talend history (founding, 2021 take-private) not re-verified here.
Editions and deployment
Qlik Talend Cloud has four packages (names not given on the fetched page; priced by data volume). Talend Data Fabric remains for client-managed and hybrid deployments; AWS, Azure and Google Cloud supported. Whether free Talend Open Studio is still offered: unverified.
Core architecture
Visual job designer generating code, ETL/ELT/streaming patterns, agentless log-based CDC (databases, SAP, mainframe, SaaS), profiling and data-quality rules with human-in-the-loop, data products and a marketplace. Proprietary.
Role in an enterprise AI rollout
Integration plus automated profiling and data products give AI teams curated, governed inputs, and the Iceberg-based Open Lakehouse stores them in an open format. See data-pipelines-for-ai.
AI features as of October 2026
Qlik describes “agentic data engineering”: trusted agents build and monitor pipelines on governed data with engineers approving; built-in agents for data quality, stewardship glossaries and data products; MCP support for agent integration. Qlik’s newsroom lists the agentic data engineering announcement and a Snowflake Cortex integration (undated on the fetched page). The vault’s Qlik note records the Qlik MCP server GA on 2026-02-10. Treat GA-vs-preview as unverified for the data-integration agents.
Integrations
Snowflake (incl. Cortex), Databricks, AWS/Azure/GCP, Iceberg, Qlik Cloud Analytics. Peers: Informatica IDMC, matillion, fivetran.
Strengths and weaknesses (opinion)
Strong: unified integration + quality + CDC and analytics under one vendor; Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader for data integration tools 10th consecutive year in 2025 (Qlik claim). Weak: product-line overlap (Talend Cloud vs Data Fabric vs Replicate) and ongoing consolidation.
