PicoClaw
Status (verified 2026-09-30)
Active, MIT, ~30.0k GitHub stars / 4.5k forks, maintained by Sipeed (RISC-V/embedded hardware vendor). Latest release seen: v0.3.1 (2026-07-03), preceded by v0.2.9 (2026-05-29) and v0.2.8 (2026-04-30). Earlier text of this note (“v0.0.1, very new, no persistent memory, few features”) is outdated.
Ultra-light personal assistant in Go, aimed at very cheap RISC-V boards but now also shipping a WebUI launcher, Docker Compose and an Android APK.
Facts from the repo
- Go 1.25+, single binary for x86, ARM, MIPS and RISC-V
- Claims: under 10MB RAM (repo notes recent builds at 10-20MB), boot under 1 second on a 0.6GHz core. These are vendor claims, not independently benchmarked.
- Core was bootstrapped by an AI agent and human-reviewed (the earlier “95% AI-generated” figure is unverified)
- 30+ LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek and others; NEAR AI Cloud added in v0.3.1), 19+ chat platforms (Telegram, Discord, WeChat, DingTalk, Feishu, QQ…)
- Native MCP support, vision pipeline, web search, file operations, scheduling
- v0.3.1 security changes: SSRF guards, blocking private inbound media fetches
Use cases
IoT and edge agents, weather/sensor alerts, education on RISC-V, low-cost always-on assistants. Hardware example: LicheeRV-Nano.
Limitations
- Pre-1.0 (0.x) with frequent breaking changes
- Far smaller ecosystem and skill registry than openclaw; no hardened isolation comparable to NanoClaw
