Postiz

What it is

Postiz is an open-source (AGPL-3.0) social media scheduler with a visual calendar, AI helpers, a public REST API, a Node.js SDK, a CLI and a hosted MCP server. It is both an end-user scheduling app and a posting backend for agents and automations. Peers: Zernio, Blotato, Ayrshare, Upload-Post; wider field in social-media-management-tools.

Maker and history

  • GitHub: gitroomhq/postiz-app (org “Gitroom”, location listed as Israel), created 2023-07-08; AGPL-3.0; about 36.9k stars and latest release v2.25.0 (2026-10-02), per the GitHub API on 2026-10-09.
  • Company/founder details beyond the GitHub org: not verified (see Open items).
  • Local tooling note: the Postiz skill available in this environment is described as “28+ channels”; the current docs say 34 platforms, so that description is out of date.

Platforms supported

Docs introduction: “34 social platforms”. The docs platform table lists (2026-10-09): X, LinkedIn, LinkedIn Page, Reddit, Instagram (Facebook Business and Standalone), Facebook Page, Threads, YouTube, Google Business Profile, TikTok (and TikTok Business), Pinterest, Dribbble, Discord, Slack, Kick, Twitch, Mastodon, Bluesky, Lemmy, Farcaster, Telegram, Nostr, VK, Medium, Dev.to, Hashnode, WordPress, Listmonk, Moltbook, Whop, Skool, MeWe, Tumblr. Homepage says “30+“. Counts differ by page; the table is the most specific.

API surface

  • Public REST API: https://api.postiz.com/public/v1 (cloud; self-hosted uses your own base URL). Auth by API key or OAuth2 token (pos_...) for apps acting for other Postiz users. Endpoints: integrations (list, connect, settings, delete, find slot), posts (create, list, delete, status, settings), analytics (platform and post), uploads, AI video, clipping, notifications.
  • Rate limit: 90 requests/hour (100 on cloud) on the create-post endpoint only, instance-wide, adjustable by self-hosters via API_LIMIT.
  • SDK and no-code: official Node.js SDK @postiz/node (npm), n8n node n8n-nodes-postiz, a Make.com app, Zapier mentioned; see n8n, make-dot-com, zapier.
  • MCP: https://mcp.postiz.com/mcp (Bearer API key or OAuth), 13 tools (integration/group list, schema, schedule post, list posts, post settings, image and video generation, clipping). Also a CLI and agent skills.
  • Webhooks: notify another system when Postiz publishes (docs “Webhooks”).

Features

Visual calendar, per-channel content tailoring, threads/comments, media library with design editor, AI copilot/agent, AI images/video and YouTube clipping (credit-metered on cloud), analytics, “plugs” (auto-repost/comment on performance), RSS auto-post, client groups and approval links, teams.

Who holds the platform approvals

Cloud: Postiz has already registered the provider developer apps, so users click connect. Self-hosted: you register a developer app per platform and set environment variables; ten providers (e.g. Bluesky, Lemmy, Nostr, Medium, Dev.to, WordPress, Listmonk) need no app because users enter credentials. Data location: managed by Postiz on cloud, your own infrastructure when self-hosted.

Pricing model

  • Self-hosted: free (open source); no plan limits; AI media needs your own provider keys.
  • Cloud: no free plan; new organisations are normally offered a 7-day trial. Tiers named Standard, Team, Pro and Ultimate, differing by channel count, AI credits and features (API/webhooks need Standard or above per the developer settings docs). Amounts: https://postiz.com/pricing.

Fit and limits (opinion)

Best when you want an auditable open-source scheduler you can self-host, with agents driving it. Trade-off: self-hosting means registering each platform app and passing platform reviews yourself; the API’s create-post rate limit is low for bulk use. Compared with API-only products it carries a full UI.
