Gemini 3.5 is the generation where Google’s Flash line pulled ahead of its own Pro line — see
Gemini 3.5 Pro, which was cancelled in August 2026 after repeated
delays. The Flash tier shipped, iterated and spawned a transcription variant while Pro never
arrived, and coverage through mid-2026 is openly critical of Google for the gap.
