Re-checked 2026-10-01 (Discord blog and secondary sources; Discord help center pages returned 403)
Discord is still free for communities. Main 2026 change: global age assurance (“teen-by-default”), see below. Ticketing/AI add-ons are third-party bots and platforms with their own pricing.
What changed in 2026
-
Age assurance: announced 2026-02-09, delayed on 2026-02-24 after backlash (Discord blog, CTO Stanislav Vishnevskiy) to the second half of 2026. Discord’s own blog post “Safer for Teens, Same Discord for Adults” (September 2026) states the global launch started 2026-09-22, rolling out over that week. Accounts are classified teen (13-17) / adult / unconfirmed, mostly from account signals; Discord says more than 90% of users will not be asked to confirm their age. Verification options include credit card (via Stripe), Apple/Google app-store age range, Google Wallet ID, on-device video selfie, ID scan and AgeKey. Teen and unconfirmed users lose access to age-restricted servers/channels, so a support server should not be age-gated unless needed. Discord also said a spoiler-channel option would launch so servers need not age-gate sensitive discussion topics.
-
AI support bots are now the common way to deflect Discord questions: Mava (Discord-native support platform), Wallu, Quickchat AI and eesel AI, among others (vendor/aggregator claims; not tested).
-
Ticket bots: Ticket Tool remains a mainstream choice; its pricing page (2026-10-02) lists Free (unlimited tickets, limited AI), Community, Pro, Team (up to 3 servers) and custom Enterprise tiers. The bot named “Tickets” and other ticket bots were not checked.
-
Pylon is not a Discord bot: it describes itself as “the agentic support platform for B2B” (“1,500+ B2B customers globally”; Discord is a listed channel; vendor home page shows no prices). Older text calling Pylon a “unified inbox bot” is out of date.

- Mava, Wallu, Quickchat, eesel, “Tickets” and Pylon plan details are unverified aggregator or vendor claims; Arcane bot status unknown.
- Response-time (“minutes vs hours”), cost-saving and cultural-fit statements are editorial.
