kgateway

What it is

A control plane for an Envoy-based gateway proxy that implements the Kubernetes Gateway API; its GitHub description reads “The Cloud-Native API Gateway and AI Gateway”. The project site says it was formerly known as Gloo and was created by Solo.io.

Position

Kubernetes API gateway / ingress (Gateway API) with AI-gateway features. Relationship to agentgateway: separate related project; the kgateway site describes agentgateway as aimed at AI workloads (inference, agentic and MCP traffic) with its own docs. agentgateway is covered in its own note.
