MCPJungle

What it is

A self-hosted MCP gateway for developers and teams: register MCP servers once and let Claude, Cursor, Codex, Copilot or custom agents connect to a single MCP endpoint (README, read 2026-10-08).

Maker and licence

Repo mcpjungle/MCPJungle, MPL-2.0 licence. 1,294 stars on 2026-10-08; latest release 0.4.6 (2026-08-02) per GitHub API. Docs: https://docs.mcpjungle.com.

Position

MCP gateway / registry-and-proxy, local-first with a shared “enterprise mode”.

Core capabilities (docs support matrix and limitations pages)

  • Upstream transports: streamable HTTP and STDIO (stable), SSE (limited, deprecated transport). Client endpoint: streamable HTTP at /mcp.
  • Tools and prompts stable; resources beta. Tool Groups expose curated subsets over dedicated endpoints (prompts/resources not yet exposed through groups).
  • Auth: upstream static bearer tokens and custom headers (stable), upstream OAuth (beta, gateway-scoped). Enterprise mode adds client bearer tokens, per-client server allow-lists and user accounts.
  • Docs state there is no OAuth/SSO/OIDC for downstream clients yet; static tokens only.
  • Observability via OpenTelemetry; SQLite for local, PostgreSQL for shared deployments; binaries for macOS, Linux and Windows, container images on GHCR; dashboard UI.

MCP spec support

Not stated in terms of a spec revision; the docs list capability levels instead (above).

Maturity

Pre-1.0 (0.4.6); the docs label features Stable, Beta or Limited as of reading.

Fit and limits (opinion)

Simple to start with Docker Compose and a CLI; good for individuals and small teams. The documented lack of downstream OAuth/SSO limits larger enterprise use today. See MetaMCP and Obot.
