Acquired
ThoughtSpot announced a definitive agreement to acquire Mode on 2023-06-26 for $200 million in cash and stock (TechCrunch, 2023-06-26, read 2026-10-07; corrected from 2023-06-28). TechCrunch said Mode would become a wholly owned subsidiary once the deal closed “later this year”; the closing date and the folding of Mode into ThoughtSpot Analyst Studio (GA early 2025) were not verified. mode.com was still live on 2026-10-07 with a banner “ThoughtSpot acquires Mode”, a “Try for free” button and the “Modern BI” pitch.
What it is
Mode is described on its site as a cloud BI tool for data teams (open-source status not verified): SQL editor, Python/R notebooks and dashboards in one place. Included here as a notebook-BI contrast with Hex and the open-source group in Open-source BI comparison.
AI, learning
AI features as of 2026-10-05: not researched beyond the acquisition coverage; look at ThoughtSpot’s Analyst Studio docs. Learning: not researched.
