super.engineering

What it is

Per the vendor docs, a native macOS app for running many coding agents in parallel, written in Rust with a GPU-rendered terminal (no Electron). Each task gets an isolated git worktree; layouts and themes are customisable and the UI is keyboard-driven. Maker: Super Dot Engineering LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (Terms of Service, super.engineering/terms).

Facts (vendor site, re-checked 2026-10-08)

  • Closed source: the Terms grant a limited, revocable licence and prohibit reverse engineering; no public repo found. Releases: the install docs say “Nightly is currently the only release track available”. Cost: the Terms state “The software is free”; voluntary sponsorship (one-time or monthly) is “currently the only thing we charge for” and unlocks nothing. A separate Teams & Enterprise page offers rollout help, with enterprise pricing “scoped” by email. No account is required (privacy policy); the app collects anonymous product telemetry that can be switched off.
  • Platform: macOS 14 or newer on a Metal-capable Mac, with separate Apple silicon and Intel downloads (download page). The docs describe it as a native macOS app and state no Windows or Linux desktop app.
  • Agents: 15 built-in providers (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini, Grok, Copilot, OpenCode, Kimi Code, Qwen Code and others) plus any custom CLI agent.
  • Features (homepage and docs): cold start under 0.5 s and 160 MB memory at idle (vendor claims), SSH remote workspaces on Linux or Mac hosts, multi-agent orchestration (lead plus labelled specialists, sc team run, sc agent send, shared coordination state), cross-repo shared context, browser control, local sc CLI. Forges: GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket Cloud. A competitor’s comparison page (superset.sh) says it lists no scheduling, webhooks, HTTP API, SDK or MCP server; this is a competitor claim, not rechecked.
  • Rename: a competitor page (superset.sh) says Superconductor rebranded to super.engineering; no vendor statement (see Open items). The vendor docs mention an app-data directory migration to “the new name” (~/.super.engineering, sc migrate-data) without naming the old product.

Context

A 2026 community tier list reportedly put it in C tier (“alpha, closed”; second-hand, unverified). Compare Superset, Conductor, Tortie.
