Snowflake Inc. is the cloud data platform (“AI Data Cloud”) vendor: a managed data warehouse, lake and sharing platform that runs on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, with a growing AI layer (Cortex, Snowflake Intelligence) and, since 2025, its own managed Postgres.

AI strategy (as of 2026-10-05)

Snowflake positions itself as the governed data foundation for enterprise AI: models and agents run next to the data (Cortex), business users query through Snowflake Intelligence, and the Postgres and observability acquisitions extend the platform toward transactional workloads and operations. In the author’s view it competes most directly with Databricks, and with the hyperscaler warehouses (Microsoft Fabric, BigQuery at Google).
