Official

• Tableau Free Training Videos: https://www.tableau.com/learn/training (every tableau.com page, including robots.txt and sitemaps, returns 403 to curl and WebFetch on 2026-10-08, so the page could not be opened; the description of free Desktop-focused beginner videos comes from earlier search results and is unverified).
• Tableau Learn hub: https://www.tableau.com/learn (403; not verified).
• Tableau Help getting-started tutorial (official, free, loads): https://help.tableau.com/current/guides/get-started-tutorial/en-us/get-started-tutorial-home.htm (HTTP 200, 2026-10-08).
• Trailhead module “Visualize Data with Tableau Basics” (free): https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/modules/learn-about-tableau (page loads; in the Trailhead content sitemap).
• Trailhead module “Data Storytelling with Tableau Public” (unit “Get to Know Tableau Public”), free, introductory: https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/modules/data-storytelling-tableau-public/get-to-know-tableau-public (opened).
• Trailhead Academy class “Tableau Desktop I: Fundamentals” (TTD101): https://trailheadacademy.salesforce.com/classes/TTD101-Tableau-Desktop-Fundamentals (page loads, 200, 2026-10-07; class details not extracted; paid instructor-led class).

Certifications (names confirmed on Salesforce’s own Trailhead pages, 2026-10-08)

• Salesforce Certified Tableau Data Analyst: Trailhead module “Tableau Data Analyst Certification Prep Guide” (https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/modules/cert-prep-tableau-data-analyst, free, about 5 min intro unit plus four topic units) states: no prerequisites (candidates should have the skills for Tableau Desktop Foundations), 60 scored multiple-choice/multiple-select questions plus five unscored, pass mark 65%, proctored at a Pearson VUE centre or online, no reference materials, a recommended 6 months of Tableau experience, and that the title is valid for one year. The exam is paid (fee shown on that page; not recorded here).
• Salesforce Certified Tableau Desktop Foundations: named in the same module (“the Data Analyst exam is an advancement of the skills developed from the Tableau Desktop Foundations certification”). The earlier note’s “formerly Tableau Desktop Specialist” is from a secondary source.
• Tableau Consultant, Tableau Architect, Tableau Server Administrator: each has a Trailhead certification-maintenance unit for Winter ‘26 (https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/modules/tableau-certification-maintenance-winter-26), which confirms the role names alongside Data Analyst. The full Salesforce-prefixed titles for these three come from the secondary listing https://www.trailblazeprep.com/certifications/role/tableau.
• Certifications are maintained through free Trailhead maintenance modules each release cycle (the Winter ‘26 module covers Tableau MCP, Tableau Agent, Pulse and the Migration SDK, depending on role).

Community and practice

• Tableau Public (free; publish public vizzes): https://public.tableau.com. Viz of the Day page: https://www.tableau.com/blog/tableau-public-viz-of-the-day (403; not opened, how it is selected not verified)
• Makeover Monday: free weekly community data-viz exercise, weekly datasets, running since at least 2016: https://makeovermonday.vercel.app/ (formerly makeovermonday.co.uk; opened 2026-10-07).
• Tableau Visionaries and Ambassadors: community recognition programmes (the former “Zen Masters” name appears in a search result and book titles; not verified), https://www.tableau.com/community/community-leaders/zen-masters (search result; 403, not opened). Names to follow are best taken from the current Visionaries list rather than this note.

• Practical Tableau: 100 Tips, Tutorials, and Strategies from a Tableau Zen Master, Ryan Sleeper, O’Reilly, 2018.
• Tableau Strategies, Ann Jackson and Luke Stanke, O’Reilly.
• The Big Book of Dashboards, Steve Wexler, Jeffrey Shaffer, Andy Cotgreave (tableau.com/big-book-dashboards; publisher not confirmed).
• Visual Data Storytelling with Tableau, Addison-Wesley.

Open items

• tableau.com training and certification pages are blocked (403 on every route tried, including sitemap and regional paths; archive.org rate-limited); video counts of the free training and the Viz of the Day / Visionaries pages stay unconfirmed. Certification facts above come from Salesforce Trailhead instead.
• yt-base was not mounted (/mnt/d/OBS/yt-base missing), so no vault video summaries were checked.
• Makeover Monday has moved: makeovermonday.co.uk shows “We have moved” and points to https://makeovermonday.vercel.app (checked 2026-10-07; vercel site loads 2026-10-08).
